Can the national media ever get enough of Clintonizing their political coverage?
Apparently not. Today in the New York Times it's whether Hillary will get her dander up and challenge Sarah Palin for supremacy among women voters. Even conservative cable commentators recognize that the big majority of Clinton voters will [...]

Mayor Mark Stodola. Give him credit. He fires back.
Re some dismissive remarks here about fairly small-bore plans for War Memorial Park after what seems like a decade of study, he has responded.
On the jump:
1) his note.
2) a [...]

Sen. David Pryor
Former U.S. Sen. David Pryor will be the new chair of the Democratic Party of Arkansas, the AP’s Jon Gambrell reports. Pryor steps in to fill the shoes of Bill Gwatney, who was murdered at party headquarters on August 13.
[...]How about that FEMA? They did a heckuva job moving sick folks out of harm's way in advance of Hurricane Gustav. Something like almost 250 evacuees were airlifted into Little Rock for hospital care here ahead of the storm.
Er, but Director Chertoff ... didn't anybody think about getting those sick [...]
Over at the Arkansas Times blog, Max Brantley is bent out of shape because, he complains, Republicans may have mocked “community organizers”—which is almost as stupid a job description as “Arkansas political blogger”— in convention speeches.

I'm sitting on a panel tomorrow at the 2008 Professional Development Seminar of the National Association of Legislative Information Technology in Louisville. Since legislators and legislative staff are increasingly using new technology to communicate and collaborate with constituents (and with each other), we'll discuss the roles [...] John McCain's campaign chief has reached out to gay Republicans, who generally were accorded more respect at this year's Republican National Convention. He noted his lesbian sister in his remarks to Log Cabin Republicans. That's all nice to read about.
But ... The rubber meets the road in campaigning and [...]

A reader added this in comments to an open line last night, but it bears more attention.
Library director Bobby Roberts is calling for allies in the library's effort to hold down the size of a hotel proposed for a current parking [...]
I really don’t mean for this to be the all-Mike Huckabee, all-the-time blog, but here he is last night on “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart.
I’d post something about one of our current officeholders in Arkansas if one of them would do something interesting every once in a while. I [...]
The Republican National Convention wrapped up last night bringing an end to two weeks of non-stop political coverage. John McCain’s speech was just as I expected: lots of compelling biography, little substance, no theme. I am still very surprised that he failed to put forth some new ideas [...]
Says here that Gov. Mike Beebe's pick to succeed the late Bill Gwatney as Democratic Party chair could be announced today.
Ideas? One correspondent suggests Jimmie Lou Fisher.
UPDATE: The choice should be a popular one. It's former governor and U.S. Senator David Pryor. It's subject to confirmation by the Democratic [...]

Tough guy director Ritchie to Huck: "''Ands off me wife, mate"
Film director Guy Ritchie made a pair of terrific movies in “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and “Snatch.” Now, he’s preparing for the fight of his life, as he takes [...]

John McCain and Sarah Palin
Following what I thought was a solid but unspectacular speech from GOP nominee John McCain on Thursday night, the Republican National Convention came to a close. A final wrap-up from our Arkansas correspondents in Minneapolis-St. Paul:
Jason Tolbert at the [...]
Yesterday I linked video of GOP political operative Tim Griffin getting a little interview time with Newsweek at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul. An email last night points out that Tim’s doing some blogging of his own over at The Griffin Room. Check it out.
[...]Bill Smith, ARRA Editor, Reporting on the RNC 2008: This evening Mrs.Cindy McCain warmed up the 2008 Republican National Convention in St Paul, MN. Cindy McCain spoke about John McCain's character and love for his country and family. Cindy McCain is not an embittered, disappointed in America woman. She is [...]
