This weekend I have been following the health care debate in the post below with updates as the story progressed but I thought this might be noteworthy enough for its own post.
One thing that has puzzled me is how Lincoln will be able to reconcile [...]

Stanley Reed, who announced his candidacy just eight days ago, has announced he is withdrawing from the U.S. Senate race against Blanche Lincoln. Health reasons, a press release says.
His departure narrows the Republican field down to about 19 (well, OK, seven have announced and an eighth, [...]

In what could be the shortest Senate campaign in Arkansas history, Stanley Reed announced he is dropping out of the U.S. Senate just 8 days after announcing he is running. This is developing fast but here is his press statement…
Today, Republican Stanley Reed announced he is withdrawing [...]

It looks like District 64 (Fort Smith area) will see a Republican Primary challenge to incumbent Republican Rep. Stephanie Malone from Fort Smith Vice Mayor Gary Campbell. Malone was elected in 2008 to her first term and is expect to seek reelection next year.
“I’ve been encouraged by [...]
Republican Gary Campbell of Fort Smith is spreading the word that he’s planning a run for Arkansas House of Representatives in District 64. The seat is currently held by GOP first-termer Stephanie Malone, setting us up for another primary race.
Campbell’s full news release at jump.

Forget Mattie Ross. Former President Bill Clinton, in an e-mail titled "Charm and Grit," implores people on U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln's mailing list to send her money.
Clinton says Lincoln will win, of course, though, he comments, "The Republicans are doing what they always do -- using fear and misinformation to [...]
Former President Bill Clinton sent an e-mail today supporting Blanche Lincoln’s candidacy for the U.S. Senate. In the message he writes,
I am going to tell you what I told Senator Lincoln this week: She’s going to win this thing.
Here’s why. The Republicans are doing what they always do — using [...]
Matthew Dowd of Washington Post thinks defeat of the bill would be good politically for Democrats, bad for Republicans. It's a thought.
If this legislation passes, Democrats will be held accountable for any failures or problems in the system. So if Americans' insurance premiums rise, they will blame the Democrats.' [...]
by Ken Blackwell, Contributing Author: President Barack Obama has completed his months-long “deliberations” over his latest Afghanistan policy. He got more applause from Republicans than from Democrats after his long-running Hamlet act. The Prince of Denmark was famous for his indecision: “To be or not to be…”
Jim Holt, who got 44 percent of the vote as a Republican opponent to Sen. Blanche Lincoln in 2004, has not been coming to the phone for reporters.
But I've been monitoring his old website and it's been through an upgrade. Clicking the old url takes you now to jimholt2010.com

Word to the wise: If you want a table at lunch at the Capital Bar, go early, like 11:30 a.m.
It was hard to tally all the familiar faces in the hotel at the noon hour today.
Pulaski County Republican Women, and Republican female legislators from afar, were gathering in a [...]
Yesterday, I linked Ernest Dumas' current column about Republican senatorial candidate Stanley Reed. It's mostly about the deficit hawk's $5 million (and counting) haul in federal farm subsidies. But it mentioned in passing a tribute paid Reed by his former friend and potential future foe, Sen. Blanche Lincoln.' [...]

State Sen. Kim Hendren is one of the eight Republican candidates trying to win over the crowded field for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. In an effort to get his campaign some traction, Hendren put out the word today that he is putting up $200,000 [...]
Redemption is one thing. Stupidity is another. But I repeat myself when it comes to Mike Huckabee.
Still .... The question raised by Foreign Policy is whether the Fox News broadcast host is preparing to give some air time to a Japanese war apologist.
Huckabee, the former (and likely future) Republican [...]
The Washington, D.C. City Council has legalized same-sex marriages in the city.
Traditional marriages in the city are officially doomed. Any day now, U.S. senators will start consorting with prostitutes and staff members and picking up men in airports. Even family values Republicans will be at risk with this barrier [...]
As I mentioned previously, I appeared on Talk Business with Roby Brock this weekend discussing the Republican Senate Primary. It is certainly shaping up to be a quite a race. Enjoy the video.

Our friends over at The Arkansas Project have a great article on the amateurish Arkansas Republican Party. Check it out:It’s amateur hour for the Republican Party of Arkansas, which has cranked up their moral dudgeon to “high” in response to a [...]
Last week I appeared on television with GOP political consultant Bill Vickery to discuss the latest amendments to the health insurance reform bill pending before Congress. After a quick discussion of the opportunities presented by two interesting additions: the expansion of medicare to those 55 and up, and a the [...]
I have some other things to do, plus, it seems dead out there. Except for Republicans trying to block budget bills in Congress.
You're up.
' [...]John Brummett offers an assessment of the state Republican Senate race in light of the addition of Stanley Reed into this race. Interestingly, he offers commentary on Mr. Reed and Gilbert Baker only. It’s safe to say that this is a two-person race, but putting immediate stock in a [...]
Arkansas's cultish Republican legislators are in the news, amusingly, on The Arkansas Project. It seems they don't like their cult being referred to as a cult. So they are issuing news releases proclaiming, "We are not a cult." Thus reinforcing the message.
ADDENDUM: The Blue Arkansas blog piles on.
So let [...]
