The U.S. unemployment rate climbed to 10.2% in October, with 558,000 people filing unemployment claims last month in a report issued this morning by the U.S. Labor Department.
Employers cut jobs in construction, manufacturing and retail trade, bringing the total number of jobs lost in the recession to 7.3 million.
