Floor debate in the Iowa House had an interesting turn this week, when House Democrats admitted that without a tax increase on Iowa businesses, they will be unable to balance the state budget this session.
Jarret Heil of Marshalltown filed nomination petitions with the Iowa Secretary of State's office today to be the GOP nominee for State Senate District 22. State Senate District 22 includes Marshall and Hardin Counties and is the district currently represented by retiring State Senator Larry McKibben.
Iowa Senate Republican Dave Mulder represents arguably the most conservative Senate district in the entire state. I challenge you to find me one that is more conservative in its make up or demographics.
