Honestly? I'm not a big Beach Boys fan. Back in the day when I was a kid and they were on Full House every other week, I had a bit of a thing for them, but otherwise, I've always been able to take them or leave them.
This [...]
Normally, I watch the Academy Awards on my couch in my PJs (as I, no doubt, do some work I neglected to do over the weekend). This year, though, I had a friend! Who was a honcho! She let me come to the Oscar party [...]
For real, though. I got my tax refund yesterday, and I decided to go buy groceries. Not with the whole thing, of course, but let me explain.
I mean, not that I'm getting married ever anytime soon, but isn't this pretty, even through the lens of a cell phone camera? I went walking in Percy Warner Park earlier today. I'm now kind of allergic-y and requiring-Benadryl-y, but it was worth it for' [...] Go ahead. Laugh. I am not ashamed. I love this song. It's also a feel-good for me because it brings back happy memories of happy friends getting our cheesy Billy Joel on. I remember being in the Starbucks drive-through with my aspiring musician co-workers (some of the most creative, whimsical [...]
Posting early, as always. I'm going to bed early as well, just so you know.
I'm going to go ahead and place this in my top ten favorite songs ever. A line from the song came to me earlier and I used it as my Facebook status. Then, when [...]
Again with the early FGF, but remember, I have to get up way early.
And again with the Elizabethtown thing. As I said, it's been a while since I've watched it. I've been afraid I would be inconsolable for whatever reason. Tonight, though, it's just what I wanted to [...]
I thought this was interesting.
We're truly experiencing something extraordinary this week.
H/T to my friend Allison on Facebook.
I was, maybe, six years old when this video came out. I remember recognizing Chevy Chase, but wondering who in the world that short guy was in his video. I used to do the little dance at the end. This song makes me smile.
[...]While I, of course, acknowledge that yesterday was an important birthday of a certain King, it should not be overlooked that another way cool guy had a birthday as well: Mr. David Bowie.
Turn and face the changes. Happy Friday.
[...] Well, after all the awkwardness, I decided some happy Christmasness was in order. And we can all agree on the Beatles, no?
This is probably my favorite Christmas song, at least of the non-traditional variety.
There is this handful of shows and people and music and such that screams "this was Holly's childhood." Sometimes I don't even completely remember one of them until I'm reminded of it at some random time.
Two of those things are the Muppets and John Denver. For your pre-Christmas [...]
What lips my lips have kissed, and where, and why,
I have forgotten, and what arms have lain
Under my head till morning; but the rain
Is full of ghosts tonight, that tap [...]
This, too, is one of my favorite holiday movies of all time. I guess I could watch it too many times, but it would take a while. I love it so much, and this morning I just needed a little Buddy the Elf.
Not in my bathroom, per se, [...]
I've posted some random ones before, but...please don't hate me for this.
I don't even watch this show. Sometimes, though, on Saturday mornings, I'll have the TV on in the background. More than once the catchy theme to Jane and the Dragon has caught my ear, and I can't [...]

I'm at the point where I realize my FGF picks are not always appropriate to the theme of "feeling good." I mean, "see how they run like pigs from a gun" is not the most inspiring lyric, perhaps. I, however, always feel better when a radio station plays the Beatles, [...]
[...] Type your answer to each of the questions below into Flickr’s search. Using only the images that appear on the first [...]

I can't help it--this song is played in Lightning 100 every ten minutes, but it gets in my head and stays there in the most smile-inducing kind of way.
The song is "Rock and Roll" by Eric Hutchinson, and it reminds me a bit of early Jason Mraz. [...]
Every once in a while, this song comes on the radio, and I never fail to smile. That happened to me this week, so you get the benefit now. I remember being in high school and thinking this video was so clever. Now excuse me, I have to go see [...]
See? Crooked.
