About a dozen eager volunteers joined in to make light work of the two Sugar Maples unexpectedly remaindered to Malcolm X Park from the Market-Frankford El beautification. Every tree needs a name, of course, and these were dubbed Jimmy and Dante. Thanks to everyone for the assistance!

Gregorio Pac Cojulun, Jr., president of the Friends of Malcolm X Park, received the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Certificate of Merit at ceremonies Nov. 11. Philadelphia Green Senior Director Joan Reilly presented the award to Cojulun for his outstanding contributions to parks programs throughout the city.
