You ain’t kidding Dave! What’s really creepy is not the viciousness of some of these anti-blogs, it’s the sheer number of them. I didn’t even know there was such a thing until SbyNEWS came on the scene.

That said, we do have a pretty lively blogosphere for a little spit of land between the Chesapeake and the Atlantic.

A funny note - the Mayor who hates blogs so much has a son who writes for TPM-Muckraker. Ironic, wouldn’t you say?

Dave,
The reason you get such angry email is because Joe makes it personal.

As a former contributor, and blog owner myself, I felt that Joe and I were reading off of the same sheet of paper.

I thought that the whole reason for his blog, like mine was to get rid of corrupt government officials.
At the time, I didn’t know the players in Salisbury, and most of our contributions were about problems in our little town 30 miles away. It’s a small area and a lot of people in Salisbury used to live in Pocomoke.
I also did a lot of national coverage which usually started with a paragraph or two about the article that I read; my opinion, and then a hot link to the article.
I posted some pretty controversial stuff, but it was stuff that was all over the internet, and I am one that believes people should see every side of an issue before they make their final decision on a topic. Anyway, he told me that I couldnt’ do that. So I stopped.

A couple of months later my husband and I were dropped.
That was okay, it’s his blog he stated he wanted to go in a different direction; fine.

Then he starts writing these same type of articles, with hot links to them…and then he just starts cutting and pasting AP articles without giving credit to the author or the photographer.
What I didn’t realize when I was writing for him, because I didn’t have time to read all that he wrote was he was not just picking on the ‘Public’ figure, but also including their family in his articles.

aking pictures of them at events and making snide remarks or asking his readers to caption the photo.
I saw three photo’s of the writer of monoblog and his girlfriend eating, all with smart a$$ comments attached.
I still to this day have not figured out what it was that we did to make him turn on us, but I have figured out that since Barrie Tiglman is gone, he seems a man without direction.
His blog consists of cut and pastes from AP articles, YouTube Vids, police reports, and at least three articles a week on how to vote for him on BNN. He even wrote an article last night about how awful you are and said that he called you and his ranking is now higher.
When I was asked to contribute to his blog he said that I was not to go to Anit Albero blogs…I had no idea what he was talking about.
After I was dumped, I rememberd what he had said and wondered what all this was about and went looking for them.
I cannot believe that there would be so many people who have dedicated their lives currently to ruining Joes. But what I have to wonder is why? Why would they spend so much time doing this?
Considering what he has said about me and my husband I think I know.
When he is #1 he thinks you guys are great, when he’s not then he goes off and says how unprofessional you are.
The way that he goes off on people is very scary. He will not listen to reason, and following people to take their picture only to post it to say nasty things is wrong, when they are not public figures.
I know that he respects GA Harrison, but wonder what it would take for him to make GA his next target. My opinion….not much.
In G.A.’s response to your article he to is surprised about the sheer numbers of Anti-Albero bloggers. But I think perhaps he might be mistaken in his assumption that they were there BEFORE SbyNews. They are there BECAUSE of SbyNews.
The rules as I see it, are: If your a public figure, your open game. If you aren’t including family, then your off limits, unless you are arrested and what you did becomes public.
However last week Joe did a story about a local car dealership closing their doors.
The truth of the matter is they are not closing, and in this economy, if that rumor was heard by just one person who was thinking of purchasing a car from that dealer; it could easily sway their decision, and that dealership is out yet another sale.
In my opinion private business’s should be off limits as well. We have the BBB as a resourse and Maryland has some of the most stringent consumer regulatory laws. I think that it is out of line to call out private business’s and cavalierly make proclamations about them. When the owner, has put his money where his mouth is and built the business. With Government it is our money, and we should know where it is going.
Please, consider warning Joe on these issues.

Dear David:

I have been meaning to write you for a while about Joe Albero and his SBYnews.blogspot.com but it seemed rather petty.

Over the past 3 or 4 months he has been almost daily asking people to vote for the site on BNN then rejoicing when he is number 1 and telling everyone your system sucks when he is less than Number 1.

My wife “Wymize” and I were contributors for his website for over a year basically reposting articles from our own http://www.pocomoketattler.com website.

When my wife ran for public office he dropped us and when I was arrested for “wiretapping” the Mayor of Pocomoke City by recording him making statements that criminally implicated the city manager of crimes in office, while on the steps of city hall… Joe Albero personally turned against me and started writing outright lies. Things like I got kicked out of the liquor store for trying to buy booze with food stamps and other personal stuff that is even lower. None of it was or is true by the way.

Today Joe comes out with a post about how bad BNN is and that websites that “only get 35 hits a day” are rated higher than him.

Joe claims to have over 1-million “hits” a week yet he refuses to show his web logs to anyone, even me when we were on good terms and working together.

The Pocomoke Tattler is not the highest traffic blog in the world but we are consistent with 25,000 to 30,000 UNIQUE VISTORS per month which is pretty good for a small town backwater blog that basically reports on local government corruption and a few community events.

Question:

Is there any way Blognet news can just drop Joe Albero and SBYnews???

He wrote about complaining and having another blog dropped for using copyrighted material with credit to the source.

Joe Albero posts complete copy righted articles every day and years old forwards, then claims it’s “original content” or real news.

It is my understanding that blog owners on BNN are not supposed to try to “influence or game the system” by soliciting their readers to vote for them other than having a link.

We made one post about how to vote on Blognet News then put a link to that in our blog roll where readers have to click through twice to go vote: http://www.pocomoketattler.com/?p=1080 The first click is to the article, the second is to our blognet news feed page.

Other than that one post and link we do not solicit our readers to vote for us.

Heck I get a kick out of the fact that our little backwater Maryland blog that “is dedicated to exposing corruption and incompetence in the Pocomoke City Government” rates in the top ten or top twenty blogs in the State and has rated very high since we signed up with Blognetnews as contributors.

It’s pretty obvious that Joe Albero shouts it from the rooftops when he “wins” then says your system is broken when he “loses” like the rating system is some sort of a competition.

They do not own and operate an independent blog, it uses a free service of Google on http://www.blogspot.com

Can you please just drop SBYnews from your system?

Stephanie, you were dumped because you copied and pasted every single article from somewhere else in its entirety and never gave credit or a link.

Your Husband tried scamming me out of money on a regular basis and I’m not talking about chump change, I’m talking about $20,000.oo to $30,000.00 at a time and then he wanted 300 W. Main Street, (the entire building) for yet another one of his scams, all the while I refused to fall for his BS.

The final straw with the two of you was when he admitted to me that he knew he broke the law by secretly recording the Mayor and other Public Officials, all of which he was arrested for and charged with.

He then tried to incorporate Salisbury News by trying to get us to put up the same illegal recordings on my Blog and I refused to do so.

The funniest part is, the entire time you had your own Blog as well as Billy have his own Blog and you’re upset with me because you were removed from Salisbury News, go figure.

I can’t tell you just how many phone calls I had to make to Billy telling him I dumped yet another article by you because you copied and pasted the entire things from somewhere else and took the credit for it.

No matter what is said here, Salisbury News was the #1 Blog in 2008 and from what I can tell will also receive the same credit for 20090, as many times as we’ve been #1. That’s good for Blognetnews business because we keep it real, all of what a REAL Blog should be all about. Do we raise the hair on the back of many peoples necks, absolutely. However, we don’t break the law and flat out lie about people like you and your husband do.

Cry wolf somewhere else because Billy spends most of his days rating his own Blog and then tells everyone he gets thousands of hits per day, which is complete BS. If you’ve never looked at analytics, (sp?) and think others can’t see what you do per day, then you’re nuts. You get less than 100 hits per day, not thousands. Go look at Salisbury News and you’ll see what a real Blog can produce. Hence our regularly being #1.

To David Mastio: There are anti Blogs out there based by the former Mayor and Police Chief because their hope and life long dream is to shut us down. It’s the Good Ol’ Boy system here on the Eastern Shore and every attempt, (including lawsuits against me) have failed and they too would do just about anything to see us go away. We have exposed more wrong doings and have gained so much attention simply because people around the Country just cannot believe any of it could be true. We back articles up with photos, video, audio and documentation and you get hate mail because they want sbynews.com dumped from your list of Blogs.

If that happens, well, then you’ll become more of a problem than a solution for America. We have recently started posting articles from the MSM where we post a couple of paragraphs, give credit to our sources and link to the majority of the article with a GO HERE link, all of which is fair game.

Let me close with this. If you go to WBOC or WMDT and watch their broadcast at 6:00 PM every night you’ll quickly notice their local news came right from Salisbury News. They sit back and watch what we produce, watch the comments come flying in and when they like what they see they simply contact who we’ve written about and do their own article about it. What’s the difference?? The difference is, WE, (Salisbury News) give credit to any of their articles we think is worthy and link to them. At least WMDT credits Salisbury News, unlike WBOC.

Oh, by the way, now Wymzie and Billy Burke contribute to that Anti Albero Blog, showing they’ll stoop to the lowest levels of their lives and participate with someone who steals photos from our Site and even goes after out 8 year old Grandson.

Spouses and children are off limits but they’re so desperate for attention they’ll do just about anything for hits. The Anti Blog just dropped 60% in volume over the past 3 months as well while Salisbury News grew another 14%. Karma is a biotch!

The Delmarva BNN is a complete joke, especially since it is run by GA Harrison. He picks and chooses which blogs he allows access. The point should be to track blogs’ influence, regardless of their message. Therefore, BNN is unreliable at best at determining the #1 blog in a region.

My second issue stems from issue #1. Why should GA Harrison, a complete hypocrite, be allowed to moderate this? Harrison allowed several extremely vulgar pornographic advertisements all over his forums when they were open. As Joe likes to say so much “What if a kid saw this?” Well, it works two ways. With that said, I think GA Harrison should be removed from that position, because he is a hypocrite and has no idea what he is talking about 99% of the time.

It sure is funny how BNN doesn’t allow certain blogs because they are “attack sites” but isn’t that exactly what Albero’s site is? A blog is something to post your opinion, not steal articles. As the previous writer so eloquently said, Joe has lost direction since Barrie left her position.

Joe’s site posts pictures of his enemies and allows a free-for-all for comments ranging from a person’s sexuality to vicious rumors about their personal lives and families. Very rarely is there an original post to come from that site, it’s all fluff.

If you track the posts over a month’s period of time, you will see that 85% of the posts are not regarding the local region, as it advertises itself. The posts are stolen articles from the AP or other news sources (real journalism) without any credit given for the source. However, if you right click on the site, it says “you are stealing copyrighted material!” What a joke. How many posts are placed on there that have been disproved by snopes.com or other urban legends websites?

In closing, BNN is a farce in my mind. Albero is a moron who will eventually get his face beaten in by somebody who will not bow down to his pressure. I only hope that I can witness it.
