Joining BNN

At the heart of BNN is the human judgment of the editors, that means we’re always learning, adapting and trying to improve the site’s usefulness to readers and bloggers. What follows are the broad outlines of what we are looking for:

Topic-focused sections (generally found in Life, Business and Sports): Our goal with these sites is to give readers an entry point into niche blogospheres where they can get a wide variety of views on issues and subjects they care about. We’re looking for solid blogs that have been around at least 90 days producing posts that are of broad interest and are widely considered credible among their fellow bloggers.

Metro-focused sections: With the Metro sites we’re trying to give readers the pulse of the local blogosphere. We’re answering the question, what’s on Toledo’s (or Omaha’s or San Francisco’s) mind today? For these sections, we’re looking for blogs that are physically in and around the metro area.

State-focused sections: Trying to capture the blogospheric conversation around state and local issues is where BNN started in July 2006 and where we have focused the bulk of our efforts. With these sections we’re trying to give readers with a keen interest in politics — including those who need to follow the local blogosphere for professional reasons such as MSM reporters and editors, local politicians and staffers, lobbyists and PR people.
