Don't you just love that? That's the kind of fun stuff that gives me a thrill when I get to walk around a yet-unopened piece of new Vegas. Here's a closer look at this sign which, I'm sure, is already erected:
[...]

Now that it's universally agreed that the M Resort has blown its moment in the spotlight by not doing anything Top Chef-ish and places like Mandalay Bay and the Wynn are heavily promoting their involvements, someone over there decided to do this:
OK, OK. Lily Tomlin's only on "The Strip." But it's an awesome interview in which we dig in about her role on West Wing, the possible Desperate Housewives spinoff she may star in, the time she walked off the Dick Cavett show in a semi-huff, why [...]
Sigh.
...but should be honored to be among the nominees for this:
Circulation figures in newspapers are tricky business. As I reported on Monday, the Review-Journal was one of a few publications that enjoyed an apparent increase during a reporting period that saw disastrous declines.
We'll be recording two episodes of "The Petcast" followed by a new episode of "The Strip" tomorrow afternoon from 4-6 p.m. PT at LVRocks.Com.
Dang. And I thought that the freelance newspaper biz was rough!

OK, folks! As you can see above to your right, the Podcast-a-Palooza is approaching this SATURDAY at the Palms.
If you're unfamiliar, this is the second annual event during which Five Hundy, The Strip and the Vegas Gang perform 30ish-minute versions of their shows live in The Lounge (aka The Gossy' [...]
See this?
It's nice when your friends land on their feet!Hubert Keller was on the line, enthusiastically dishing about the wonderfulness for him that has been his ride this year with the Bravo reality hit Top Chef. Keller, [...]

It's official! We're moving the live recording for "The Strip" to Saturday evening starting this weekend. Also, Emily and I will be recording "The Petcast" for one hour before that. We're hoping to move to Sunday evenings whenever LVRocks.Com gets a Sunday engineer, but [...]
Remember how I got all concerned last week that the first images the media would have of gays tying the knot under the domestic partnership law that went into effect on Oct. 1 would look like this...
It was rough being away last week and watching all that news flying by with little time to blog. Then I was asked to try to make some sense of it all in my weekly LVW piece, and what resulted was this piece examining the scorecard [...]
With the rather swift reaction to the prior post about the horrifying "first nuptial" stunt occurring tonight as the Nevada domestic partnership law takes effect, I felt it was necessary to clarify a few things.
OK, folks. I'm embarrassed by the Vegas gays at this very moment.
...cuz if ya keep this crapola up, this is the only sort of Peepshow that's gonna hire you. (I walked by that earlier tonight in New York and thought it would be funny, given the drama I'm missing back west. Something weird ALWAYS happens when I'm' [...] Hey! They posted this week's piece early! And it's a lot of fun! They even made up that funny graphic! Read on and join the Facebook group, "Las Vegas Needs To Grow A Pair." -sf

Does a Las Vegas neighborhood slam really merit all this fuss?By STEVE FRIESS

Well, not exactly. Maybe just a mini-scandal. I'll let y'all decide.
Both newspapers did a terrific job today of holding corrupt KTNV anchor Nina Radetich and her ridiculous, standards-less boss, Jim Prather, accountable for the fact that she's off the hook for forewarning a local auto shop chain of a coming investigative story and offering her boyfriend's' [...]
We're on tonight at LVRocks.Com at 7 p.m. PT with my interview with Rick Nielsen of the legendary band Cheap Trick. It was a longish interview so we may not be able to play it all during the hour but it'll all be in the [...]
Hoo-boy! The Vegas whine machine is in full throttle now!
[UPDATE: Prather says Nina stays. Amazing.]
We were just going to hop over this week, but then I had my interview this morning with legendary Broadway producer-director Hal Prince of Phantom, Evita, Fiddler, Sweeney Todd, Damn Yankees, Cabaret and Pajama Game fame.
So I'm working on this little story about all the weird stuff going on around Vegas for 9/9/09 and I start going through all the promotional emails I had received pertaining to said numerology. Most was junk.
I caught up on some of the media I had missed this week this morning and wanted to point out a few things:
Journalist Esther Lynn, who gossips about Vegas online as Claire Voyant, reported yesterday that "Earl Turner is no longer part of the [Las Vegas] Hilton's Shimmer Cabaret show." He's been co-headliner with Lani Misalucha.
Everyone agrees: The breakout star of our Michael Jackson benefit this weekend was "Lion King" star Elijah Johnson, the 11-year-old dynamo who burst on stage and reminded everyone what it was like to fall in love with a young future superstar for the first time. [...]

We're live tonight at LVRocks.Com with this week's show as well as the live chat room and webcam. As of right now, Miles expects to make it this week. If he needs to be late, we'll play the interview at the top of the hour.
