  • AN AMAZING THING HAPPENED THIS WEEK…

As many of you know, I’ve been unemployed since the end of June. Every morning since then I’ve searched the internet, the want ads and my network of friends trying to find a job. My wife, my family, my good friends and I have been praying that something would come [...]

While we watch and wait on our bills in the legislature, we’ve seen our web site mentioned in one online magazine, Freedom Watch. Click here to read an excellent article entitled Under Fire.

Also we have had two letters to the editor published this week. Check out [...]

  • Friday the 13th…Here’s What We Know So Far

    Number of comments: 7

There are a few loose ends to tie up, but by and large all of the bills that we have been tracking have been addressed. Every bill that has been passed out of the various committees will now go to the floor of the Assembly or Senate to be [...]

  • Do Ya Feel Like a Mushroom Yet?

You know what a mushroom is…something kept in the dark and fed BS. Well folks I’m startin’ to feel just like one today. Why? Apparently S.B 92 was passed out of the Senate’s Government Affairs Committee yesterday with amendments and a “Do Pass” recommendation. We should all be cheering that [...]

It’s been a very busy week for me, so I haven’t been able to update as often as I would have liked. In all honesty, not much happened this past week anyway. I did have a nice conversation about A.B. 95, the anti confiscation bill, with Carrie Herbertson of the [...]

  • Does Anyone Know What’s Going On?

    Number of comments: 3
Here we are the 3rd of March. In 10 days our efforts in participatory democracy may just be over. Why? March the 13th is the last day that a bill can be sent from a committee to its respective floor to be considered.

As of today, not one of [...]

  • Proposed Changes to Hunting Regs

Folks I admit to being pretty much a non-hunter anymore. Back in the day, on the South Dakota prairies, pheasants and geese trembled at the sound of my name! My best memories are spending crisp fall afternoons with my dad in the pursuit of the ringneck pheasant in picked over [...]

  • Will 4/13 Be Black Friday?

April 13th is just 15 days away and I’m getting a little concerned. Why? April 13th is the LAST day that a legislative committee can forward a bill to the floor of either the Assembly or Senate. As of today, NOT ONE of our bills has been voted out. One [...]

  • A Great Letter! Thanks Joe!!

A good friend of SECTION 11 has written an outstanding letter to Chairman Warren Hardy of the Senate Government Affairs Committee—with copies to other committee members. Joe Luby who serves with me on the Clark County Shooting Park Advisory Committee gave testimony before the committee on S.B. 92, the bill [...]

  • Is S.B. 92 In Jeopardy? It’s Up To You!!

As mentioned in my last post S.B. 92, the bill to do away with the handgun registration ordinance in Clark County, has been assigned to a “working group” in the Senate's Government Affairs Committee. I have no earthly idea what a "working group" is, but I'm thinking it may [...]

  • Saved By The Bell!!

Today was the last day for Assembly and Senate Committees to introduce new bills and it looks like no more firearms related bills were put forward. So I don’t think we’ll see any more new proposals, but a number of the ones that we are following are certain to be [...]

  • One Down! WE WIN!!

Great news! A.B. 21 has been defeated in the Assembly Judiciary Committee. On a 6-6 vote (it needed a 2/3 majority) the bill that would have increased our CCW fees by over 100% and other provisions was voted down yesterday. See the Las Vegas Review Journal story.

    The [...]

  • Under the Radar…Under Review

A bill that had its first hearing yesterday has kind of taken us by surprise. A.B. 194 was heard in the Assembly Judiciary Committee. Its title is something to the affect of making changes to laws regarding victims of domestic violence. When it reached the committee yesterday, however, it [...]

  • S.B.237, A.B.268 and Some Random Thoughts

Yesterday S.B. 237 had its first hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee. This is the Senate’s version of the reciprocity bill. As you may remember, S.B. 237 would authorize the Nevada Department of Public Safety to determine which states CCW requirements are substantially similar to Nevada’s and to grant reciprocity [...]

  • All In?? All Done??

Yesterday, March 19th, was the final day for individual legislators to introduce new bills in the State Assembly or State Senate. And did they ever! Seventy five new bills were introduced in the Assembly and, not to be out done, 127 new bills were introduced in the Senate!

    I've [...]
