After long consideration, I have decided to run for Chairman of the Cabarrus County Democratic Party for 2009-2010.
Starting in August, I will be a full time employee of the North Carolina Democratic Party. I will be a "field organizer" for Cabarrus and Stanly County.
This Saturday is the day to get active!
The Cabarrus County Commissioners have to work too hard. That's why they say they need to expand the Commissioner Board from the current 5 members to 7 members. While hardly anyone disputes that expanding the board is a good idea, I'm all for it myself, there [...]
After an excruciation year and a half, tonight, what most people already knew a few months ago, was finalized: Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee for the Presidency and will be the next President of the United States.
After recuperating from several weeks of lack of sleep, with 2 or 3 hour long nights being very common, it is an absolute pleasure for me to use My 100th post to thank all the voters in Cabarrus County for giving Barack Obama a victory in [...]
While the Primary race between Clinton and Obama has gotten pretty vicious lately, I was always convinced it's nothing compared to the stuff Republicans would be spewing around the general election. Turns out I didn't have to wait that long, thanks to the NC GOP and [...]
Today our local Board Of Elections opens its doors for the early "one-stop" voting process.
When it comes to voter registrations there's a very remarkable trend lately.
There's nothing better than letting the sea breeze blow all your worries and stress away for a week on Topsail Island.
I returned on Tuesday from Ohio, where I volunteered for Sen. Obama's campaign in the frozen city of Cleveland. Hundreds of volunteers from all over the country descended upon the state to help out the Obama campaign.
There was a lot to do recently about a pretty big hike in the fee for garbage pick up as Allied Waste Services added curbside recycling services for County residents that live outside the Concord and Kannapolis city limits.
This past weekend I flew to Chicago to help a Belgian TV News crew make a report on the Barack Obama campaign. As you might know, Chicago is Obama's hometown and it's here that his political campaign started.
The victory on Saturday in South Carolina wasn't a surprise to all the volunteers who had been working for the Obama campaign there, but the extent of the victory was.
As you know by now, I've been spending some of my time as a volunteer for the Barack Obama campaign in South Carolina.
Welcome to all Independent Tribune readers!
I almost forgot, but this week marks the first anniversary of this blog.
In the final installment of my look back at 2007 I want to talk about My favorite chubby and extremely obnoxious hobbit: Bruton Smith.
My second local highlight for 2007 is by far my favorite story of the year.
As the year winds down I wanted to look back at what, for me, where the 3 major local news events of 2007. They all seem to have one thing in common; we will still hear plenty about them in 2008.
From LKSOC (the Larry Kissell School of Original Campaigning) comes the following event, which Under The Dome already calls "the most creative political event of the year".
It's your weekly dose of chuckles to start off your work week!
The Cabarrus County Democratic Party holds it's annual Christmas party this Tuesday December 11th.
As you might know from a previous post of mine, Mark Ortiz, a well known progressive in our area, got involved in a hit and run accident a few weeks ago.
They chickened out!
This Monday evening our County Commissioners are having their, usually very entertaining, public get together again. It promises to be a doozy.
This week I received My bloggers badge of honor, because you don't know you're achieving anything until some wacko puts up a hate site against you.

Do you know there is an election tomorrow? This Tuesday we vote for our local Mayors and/our Councilmen.
Yesterday, my favorite presidential candidate visited the campus of NCCU in Durham, NC.
This is the first installment of my new weekly post to chase away that "Monday blues" feeling.
Unbelievable. That was my first reaction when I heard How Robin Hayes keeps voting against the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) bill. I'm pretty sure you'll agree with Me after you read what his reasoning behind his vote is.
If your answer would be "Yes of course, why do you even ask such a stupid question?", you and I will get along just fine.
I'm packing my bags right now to leave for the ConvergeSouth Conference in Greensboro.
I had a blast at the County Commissioner meeting last night. It was hard not to laugh out loud and at one point I did.
As a kid I used to watch "Dallas" on TV with my parents.

Concord City Council members voted unanimously Monday to halt construction on a drag strip that's being built at the Lowe's Motor Speedway complex, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Ever since I started my protest asking for the resignation of Coy Privette, I've talked to dozens and dozens of people on this issue. Most are positive about what I'm trying to do, but every now and then I get a reaction from a Privette supporter (yes, [...]

It seems there's a lot of people that think the one reason the Philip Morris plant in Concord is closing is because people smoke less. I think that's BS.
The parent of the Philip Morris cigarette companies (Altria) said Tuesday it will close a Concord manufacturing plant that employs 2,500 people off U.S. 29 as it moves cigarette production for non-U.S. markets to [...]
