because I've been in bed since 9:45 pm and I can't sleep!! Arrrrrgh. It's a very rare thing for me to have insomnia. And it's driving me nuts! I decided to get up and blog, and maybe I'll get sleepy enough to conk out. :)

We had a lovely, quiet, relaxing Thanksgiving at home today. Even the cooking and cleanup was smooth and easy, due to lots of prep work yesterday! We ate and ate, and everything was so yummy. It's fun now that Sam is old enough to get really [...]

Wow, I have so much to chatter about! First things first: This is baby Elliott, our newest nephew!!!
Apple-saucy, that is!! My friend Linda graciously invited me over to her home last week for a full day of applesauce making. They make LOTS of sauce each year for their family of 8, and this year they had picked way more apples than they needed [...]
It's been a while since I dedicated a post to my little third-born sweetie pie. He hit the 18 month mark on Saturday, so I decided it was time! :)

I have been overjoyed lately to see my kids really turning into bookworms. :) I think it has to do in part with our school curriculum being centered around books, plus we have just been finding some great ones at the library recently. Also, Sam's and' [...]
Well, finally I'm getting a Homemade Life post up! I hope to be able to start doing this weekly again . . . we'll see how it goes. :) Here are a couple things I've accomplished recently.
This is one of only two tomatoes that grew in our garden this year. Doesn’t it look yummy? Our silly tomato plant went from looking good at first, to then looking like it was going to die a slow and painful death, to producing two tomatoes [...]
Well at least I hope so. :) I am thrilled to report that I'm now 2/3 of the way to my goal weight! I've lost 20 lbs. in the past year (yes, it's taking me a while!) and have only 10 more lbs. to go to' [...]
We just completed our first "official" week of homeschooling. Fun! Sam loved it and was disappointed when I told him we would be taking a break for the weekend. I hope his love of learning continues!! :) Our P4/5 core consists of storybooks that are used [...]
Oh my! I can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since I last blogged, promising more pictures and updates soon! Oops. Life has a way of keeping me very busy these days, and blogging hasn't been tops on my list. :) Anyway, here is what we' [...]

Earlier this week, I ran into a friend whom I hadn't seen for a while, and she commented on the necklace I was wearing. It reminded me that I've meant to post about this necklace for ages! I am not a big jewelry wearer, but I [...]
Lately, I’ve been thinking ahead to fall, which for us will bring the beginning of our homeschooling adventure. I’m getting really excited about it!! There was a time, not so long ago, that I said I would never in a million years homeschool my kids (this [...]
We had a fun time last night at a local small-town fireworks display. Actually, for such a tiny town, it was a pretty good show! I snapped a few pictures, but not many of them turned out very well. I'd need to play around with the' [...]
I came across a little photo contest a couple weeks ago, and on a whim, entered this picture of my boys. I found out today that it's one of the finalists! They originally had over 100 entries, and narrowed it down to 23, so far. It [...]
The past few weeks have been filled with quite a few homemade things! I got inspired to make something patriotic for Julia to wear for the 4th . . . I had a bunch of this material left over from the dress I made her last [...]
Life has been busy busy busy this week, and though I really wanted to post a Homemade Life today, it didn't happen! Possibly tomorrow, though I make no guarantees . . . it is the 4th of July, and who knows what we may end up' [...]
This was another busy week, and I didn't get much crafting done, or much homemade anything, for that matter, other than the usual cooking and baking! But here are a couple things I did do. First, we made homemade bubbles for blowing! All our regular bubble' [...]
On Friday, Jim and I got to go out for a much-needed date night. I'm a firm believer that it's important to "date" after marriage, and especially after having kids, just like you did before marriage! I realize that it's not always easy to work out,' [...]
This is what we did to celebrate Memorial Day:
Well, I'm finally back from an extended blogging break! We had a wonderful visit over the past week with Jim's parents. They left on Weds., and now I'm trying to get back into our normal routine . . . and I also have big spring cleaning' [...]
I’ve been wanting and wanting to blog for the past few days, and time got away from me. It’s so hard to write during the day, since there is usually someone needing me to do something, or some little hands trying to reach the keyboard . [...]
Well, I had grand plans to get this post up this morning, but obviously that didn't happen. :) And sorry I missed posting this feature last week--time got away from me and it just didn't get done! Anyway, the last couple weeks have been busy, but [...]
Yay! I’m actually posting A Homemade Life on a Friday, for a change! :) Of course I’m neglecting all kinds of housework to do so, but that’s OK. Housework can wait for tomorrow . . . Anyway, here are some of the homemade things we did [...]

I think I will try to do the Homemade Life posts on Fridays from now on--just makes more sense to me since it would be easier to look back over the week and see what we did that was homemade. :) This week it ended up [...]
Sometime within the first year or two of our marriage, I came across a book at our local library called The Homemade Year, by Mildred Lawrence. It's a kids' book, really (well, probably pre-teen/teen), and I assume it's long out of print, but it is a' [...]
