    According to Scout.com's Dave Telep, the Huskies received a commitment from Enes Kanter, a 6-foot-9 post player out of Simi Valley (Calif.) Stoneridge Prep, for the Class of 2010.

    He was considering USC and UCLA. Apparently, Kanter forged a strong relationship with new assistant Raphael Chillious.

    Bob Condotta just posted a blog about the annual graduation rates for student-athletes and it seems as if Washington performed well.

    UW student-athletes enrolling from the 1999-2000 academic year to 2002-03 graduated at a rate of 84 percent, which is second in the Pac-10 behind Stanford.

    The Pac-10 named Washington forward Quincy Pondexter the conference player of the week.

    Here's the release.

    Pondexter averaged 22.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg and led the Huskies to a 3-0 record. He also shot 63.9 (23-of-36) percent from the field and .952 from the free throw line, including hitting 20-straight FTs.

    Washington has sold about 7,200 tickets for each of the three games for the Athletes in Action tournament at Edmundson Pavilion that includes UW's regular-season opener against Wright State.

    About 2,800 tickets remain.

    Big news out of Indianapolis. According to the Associated Press, the NCAA executive board "approved one series of measures to toughen existing recruiting rules and offered support for additional measures to prevent the funneling of money to those close to recruits.
